FAQ

What is a wedding officiant?

A wedding officiant is a person who conducts your ceremony. An officiant must be legally registered or recognized with the state in which they are conducting the ceremony if the ceremony takes place in the United States. Outside of the United States, each country has varying rules and regulations. Within Australia, the officiant must take a series of courses and be registered. In Europe, an officiant does not conduct the legal piece of the ceremony and is therefore considered a celebrant.

Is the ceremony legal?

Yes, if the couple decides they would like it to be! In the United States, the couple must file for their wedding license before the ceremony and present this paperwork the day of the ceremony. The officiant will then send this paperwork to the state for the marriage to be legalized. We can also conduct commitment ceremonies, which are not legal.

Why book an officiant?

We can’t speak for everyone, but we can say that we are pretty awesome people who want to make your ceremony truly yours. We are nondenominational, meaning that we won’t place any particular religion into your ceremony without your consent. Your ceremony can be completely nonreligious, and that’s ok too!

Are you qualified to officiate?

Yes, we are! We have all filed within Minnesota, Illinois, and/or Wisconsin. If you would like a ceremony outside of the United States, contact us to see if this is possible! After officiating over a hundred ceremonies, we would say that we have a bit of experience.

What areas do you service?

We are based in the Twin Cities, so we directly service this area. Though, we will travel anywhere you ask! For ceremonies an hour outside of the cities, we do have a travel charge of the federal mileage rate roundtrip. We won’t require anything other than this travel fee. If your ceremony is outside of Minnesota, Wisconsin or Illinois, please contact us. We do love to travel, so we will work our best with you to make this happen!

What’s included in your fees?

All of our packages include the following:

  • Initial consultation
  • Consultations by phone and/or email to discuss ceremony details
  • Support and guidance during the preparation and planning stages through the conclusion of the ceremony
  • Arrival of at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled ceremony time in order to complete the paperwork and obtain signatures for marriage license
  • Performance of wedding ceremony in a professional and respectful manner on the date, time and location of the ceremony listed within our contractual agreement and in accordance with the ceremony planned

What is not included in your fees?

We do not currently have a PA system, but this is something we are looking into providing. If you have a small ceremony, you typically will not need this. We have pretty great stage voices.

What can I include in my ceremony?

Anything you would like! We love crazy, interesting ideas that we can let our creative minds work with, but we also love simple, beautiful ceremonies. We will listen to any of your ideas and try our best to make them happen.

Are you affiliated with any religion?

We are not affiliated with any particular religion, but we will recognize all religions and conduct a ceremony that reflects your beliefs.
